2018 WESTERLY FIELD HOCKEY TOURNAMENT

Dates: Sept. 8-9, 2018
Location: John Ferreira Turf Field, Cowichan Sportsplex, Duncan, BC

Cost: $300 per team
Registration fees are due by 1st August 2018 please.

Ages: 19 years and above

Insurance: All players must either have current FHBC insurance or
NEW THIS YEAR for those individuals without FHBC insurance playing on a team from a ‘Developing Area’ (e.g. Comox, Nanaimo and further afield) Team Insurance can now be purchased from FHBC under their brand new ‘Day of Event’ membership category for $90 per team. See attached pdf from FHBC for more details and descriptions of the insurance cover. Captains please contact Jill Thompson where further info will be given on how to register your team.

Umpires: Please could each team provide an umpire

Social: On Saturday night a social dinner will be organised, details to follow (cost not included in registration).

The Canadian over 50’s Masters team are preparing for the IMHA World Cup in Terassa, Spain happening this July. The team is on the island this month and are looking for female players over 40 to help them in some exhibition matches.

If you are a female field hockey player 40+ and looking for a run-around… please help us in our final preparations as we get ready to play in the IMHA World Cup in Terassa, Spain in July!

We are looking for players to practice against on the following dates in Duncan:
Sunday, June 10th 3-5pm (little warm-up turf)
Saturday, July 14th 2-4pm (large turf)
Sunday, July 15th 10am-12pm (large turf)

Please let Cara Jay (cara.jay.71@gmail.com) know you are interested by Friday, June 8th, otherwise it might change our turf arrangements.. We could also meet to carpool up to Duncan (if you are in the Victoria area).

The Canadian women’s national senior squad will wrap up their two-week training camp in Victoria with their second and last scrimmage of the month. This won’t be the last of international level competition you will be able to see in Victoria as the team hopes to have a Chile development team and Scotland here before the Fall.

For now, you can come watch the intra-squad game with the below details:

The Canadian women’s national field hockey team are wrapping up week one of two of their training camp based at the University of Victoria this May. On Sunday, May 27 you can come watch the women’s national squad play an intra-squad match! This is the first time in several years that international level women’s training has come to the island for the community to watch.

Come cheer on Canada, meet the players and see the Canadian team in your backyard.

Location: University of Victoria water-based field
Date: Sunday, May 27
Time: 5:00-7:00 pm (including warm-up)

The team will also be out in the community this weekend and next week before they head to Mexico to compete in in an FIH World Series event. The team has been training at UVic since May 21 using both the CARSA and McKinnon facilities to fulfill their weights sessions, team meetings and on-field practices.
