The VILFHA Fall Annual General Meeting will be held:
Tuesday, September 3 at 7 pm
Lower Clubhouse, Juan de Fuca Recreation Centre, 1767 Island Highway

  • As per Regulations 4.1 c) Fines shall be imposed on any team: iv. For not having a Team Rep at Council meetings and/or General Meetings $25.00

The meeting agenda is attached to this notice. We will be ratifying the 2019 Fall schedule at this meeting and reviewing the adoption of International Hockey Federation rule changes. We will also be putting forward the following motions to amend VILFHA regulations:

Motion: To delete clause 5.2© of the VILFHA Rules and Regulations which states:

_5.2© The duration of all league games shall be two (2) periods of thirty-five (35) minutes each. No overtime shall be played in league play. _

Motion: Following the deletion of clause 5.2©, motion to renumber the remainder of the subclauses 5.2 into sequential order.

There are two Executive positions that need to be voted on. Job descriptions are as follows:

President
Chair all meetings of the Association.
•Chair all meetings of the Executive and Council.
•Be a signing officer of the Association.
•Represent the Association, or delegate others to represent the Association, on appropriate occasions.
•Act as Chair of the Discipline Committee.

Director of League Operations:
– Oversee the activities of the League Operations Coordinators and ensure that tasks are completed in a timely fashion.
– Offer support and direction to her Committee members.
– Ensure that the playing objectives of the Association are met in that all teams play games on a regular basis, teams are treated fairly in terms of the use of the fields, umpiring assignments and schedule, and all teams are informed of changes to the schedule and other pertinent intonation
-Compile weekly results and standings
-Attend Executive and Council meetings to report on the activities of her committee.

The Canadian women’s national field hockey team have recently climbed the world rankings by three spots and are getting ready for their first of two chances to qualify for the 2020 Olympics. They are heading to Lima, Peru for the 2019 Pan American Games where the champion earns a berth to the Toyko Games.

On the Canadian women’s roster are second-year UVic Vike Anna Mollenhauer (Midfielder, St. Michael’s University, former UVic Vikes Kaitlyn Williams (Goalkeeper, White Rock, BC) and Dani Hennig (Defender, Kelowna, BC) and Victoria native Maddie Secco (Oak Bay Secondary School, Stanford University).

YOU ARE INVITED to meet the team and send off the Canadian WolfPack to the Pan American Games in Style. Join the team for an evening at Victoria’s Strathcona Hotel while also supporting the team.

Summer is here and there are lots of ways to keep in good field hockey form over the next few months! Please see details below:

Sailors Drop-In on Tuesdays
The Sailors field hockey club are excited to host another summer season of co-ed drop-in. All participants must be registered under Field Hockey BC and must be 14 years of age or older.

When: 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays
Dates: July 9, 16, 23, 30; Aug 6, 13, 20 and 27
Where: UVic Field 1
Cost: $5 per session (cash upon arrival)

Rebels Drop-In on Thursdays
The Rebels Club will be hosting its regular summer drop-in sessions on Thursday evenings on the turf at UVic. All participants must be registered under Field Hockey BC. Participants under 14 years need a parent or guardian present.

Dates: July 4, 11, 18, 25; Aug 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29

Cowichan T-Birds Field Hockey Camp: July 2-5
The Senior Cowichan Field Hockey team along with their coaches are proud to be able to provide a field hockey camp for ages 6-14 year olds. Everyone welcome! No experience necessary. Camp runs from July 2-5, 2019. More info in attached brochure.

August Lake n Bake – Kelowna

September Westerly Tournament – Nanaimo
Get a good September start for women’s (19+) social field hockey with the Westerly tournament in Nanaimo (Sept 7-8). Cost is $300 per team, due by August 1, 2019. For more information contact Eiko Eby at eikoeby@shaw.ca.

Team Canada Opportunities
Team Canada is looking for men and women over 35 to represent Canada. The world Cup locations have been announced for 2020. Over 35 and o40 tournaments are in England. Over 45s, o50, o55, & o60 tournaments are in South Africa. The Grand Masters o60 is in Japan. Please register at: http://www.fieldhockey.ca/mastersform/.
